Well, erm.... I went to Wales.
Why? Because I could. We had to do something after cancelling the trip to southend, we had a car that can't be parked in London in the middle of the day for free. So we drove. We only went to the end of the road; trouble is that road just happened to be the M4. Thank god we didn't get on the M25 or we'd have never come back.
So, we buggered off west, stopped at the Reading service station and carried on till we reached Abergavenny. I stopped at a tattoo parlour to ask for a quote and he said £60. Very nice bloke, chatting away to the man who's back he was doodling on.
Away from Abergavenny and onwards, circling back once so we could camp for the night in the Castle Hotel in Llandovery. Right across from a ruind castle in a lovely double room (it's great to be able to get a double cos the singles are always a bit pathetic) with an absolutely massive bed, (limited) Sky TV and an en suite bathroom. I was a happy bunny. We went and got fish and chips (yummy welsh batter) and Dave was looking at faggots not knowing what they were and saying "they look nice."
In the morning we were off again, and went about as far west as we could before coming back. Literally, I had my feet in the sea at Aberystwyth, and again I had the urge to jump in - I could have done too if it hadn't been for that fuckwit James letting me down.
So we jumped back in the car and drove all the way home, on the promise of finally knowing one way or the other if the guy is full of shit. I'm pretty much convinced now. He is. Now comes the fun part of pulling him up on it.
Anyway, the plan is to go to a few more places, better prepared and perhaps with a few more people, so the places on my list include:
Snowdonia - lovely mountains
Tintern Parva - just, literally just over the border, in amongst the forest of Dean (which is huge) a beautiful town with a ruined abbey and a river running through. Absolutely amazing, I wish we weren't in such a hurry to get back yesterday or else I would have made Dave stop.
Devil's Bridge - By the looks of the map there's a waterfall there, but really, it just has a cool name.
Other than that there are plans to go to scotland, and who knows where else.
Anybody up for coming along at some point? Hopefully we'll be able to get a tent and hit the campsites instead of hotels.
Anyhoo. Suggestions are welcome in terms of destination, I just love being able to share the sight of something beautiful.
I really want to go back to Tintern though.
Oh and something else I still want to try - Murder mysteries. The dinner seems a bit short though, I'd want to make a weekend of it.
